Destiny and natural need for human guidance

Guru & disciplesGiven the nature of our website, we often talk about destiny and how our paths seem predetermined. There is some truth to that, but it can also be misleading if taken too literally.

When someone moves through life purely by reacting to their BaZi Chart and Element dynamics, they end up running on autopilot. And autopilot is rarely a good strategy. Most of the time, it leads to confusion, poor decisions, and repeated patterns that never get resolved.

A human being needs shaping in every phase of life. As children, our parents teach us how to live in the world. Later, teachers and professors expand our understanding and give us skills. When we enter the workforce, an experienced boss shows us how to navigate real situations. These layers of guidance are natural and necessary.

But at some point, when we are already adults and have collected all the practical, earthly skills, we still face an inner layer that no school or workplace can handle. This is where a spiritual teacher becomes essential. Someone who can help us face deeper fears, understand what life actually is, and slowly loosen our attachment to the stories we tell ourselves.

In a perfect world, all teachers would be spiritual teachers in some way. Parents, educators, mentors, bosses… ideally, they would all point us toward a deeper understanding of reality. But modern culture has moved in a different direction. Everyone is focused on personal freedom, often freedom from any authority. And while independence is good, it has a downside: people grow up without any real guidance for the inner world.

This is why so many people reach their 40s or 50s, hit a wall, and then suddenly turn toward spirituality. It works, but it’s late in the process. It is far better to have some spiritual foundation early in life, even a simple one, and then choose how much to build on it later.

So in the end, even a great destiny or a strong BaZi BaZi Chart doesn’t mean much if we never allow ourselves to learn from others. We still need teachers, mentors, and guides. Without that, we end up running in circles, and the best parts of our chart never fully activate.
