The Fall of a “Winter Wood”: The Dynamic Behind Maduro’s Capture

If you’ve been following the news, you know that Nicolás Maduro was captured by U.S. forces just a few days ago. While the world watches the political fallout, I’ve been looking at his Bazi Chart, and the timing is almost eerie.

The pattern is quite clear: whenever a famous person gets into major trouble this year, there’s a Pig or Snake or both involved in their Chart. Maduro is the perfect example of this.

The Character: A Stubborn “Winter Wood”

Maduro is a Yin Wood person. In Bazi, Wood represents growth and kindness, but he was born in the middle of winter (the Month of the Pig). This makes him a “cold” Wood, surrounded by excessive Water (his Resource Element).

When someone has an excessive Resource Component, they tend to be eccentric. They live in their own world, they’re incredibly stubborn, and they insist on doing things “their way,” often ignoring reality or the advice of others. This explains his governing style perfectly: a leader who remained locked in his own ideological narrative even as the world around him changed.

The “Competitor” and International Enemies

If we look at his birth year, he has the Tiger. The Tiger brings Yang Wood and “Competitor Talent.” This makes a person naturally prone to rivalry. Because it’s in his Year Pillar (which represents the outside world and foreign countries), it suggests a life spent constantly looking for enemies abroad. For years, his identity was built on “fighting the empire,” a classic manifestation of a Competitor looking for a fight across the border.

The Fire Snake: A Double-Edged Sword

Since 2017, Maduro has been in a ten-year Fire Snake Luck Pillar.

Now, Fire is actually something his “cold” Chart desperately needed. It gave him the warmth and energy to stay in power as long as he did. But there’s a catch: in Bazi, the Snake and the Pig are mortal enemies; they clash violently. This is a classic case where “medicine” comes with side effects.

Because the Pig represents his Month Pillar (his career, his authority, and his “seat” of power), this Fire Snake period was constantly vibrating against his foundation. It was a decade of high-wire instability.

2025/2026: The “Perfect Storm”

Why did he fall now? Wood Snake year activated the Fire Snake pillar.

This created a “Double Snake” attack on his career foundation. In BaZi, we call this a Fan Yin, a complete destabilization in which the energy of the year literally “turns over” the person’s life. The Fire of the Snake melted his “Metal” (which represents authority), and the clash with the Pig literally moved him out of his position.

It’s a textbook case of how Bazi works. He needed the Fire to survive, but that same Fire eventually brought the clash that ended his rule. For a man who spent his life fighting “competitors” abroad, the arrival of the Snake year was the moment his luck finally ran out of room to move.
